Introduction
The TMS are delighted to announce this year’s AGM conference will be hosted by the Earth Sciences Department at the Natural History Museum, London. In addition to an IODP-related theme on day 1, and open talks on micropalaeontology on day 2, there will be posters sessions, tours of the NHM’s micropalaeontology collections, and a conference meal.

The theme for this year’s event is “Micropalaeontology and the IODP: past, present and future applications”. The IODP is the most important multinational interdisciplinary project in the earth sciences and micropalaeontology has always played a key role within it. Invited talks will look at the range of micropalaeontology carried out within the IODP, how this contributes to the project and some of the future challenges. Day 1 of the event will include keynote lectures on IODP micropalaeontology-related research and the future IODP 10-year science plan, and an awards ceremony followed by drinks reception. Day 2 will include open sessions of short (c. 15 minute) talks and dedicated poster sessions. These sessions are open to any topic related to micropalaeontology.  Further details regarding the conference schedule, keynote speakers and logistics is provided below.

Venue
The conference will take place at The Natural History Museum, London. Keynote lectures, and oral presentations will take place in the museum’s Flett Theatre, whilst all poster presentations will take place in the Flett Lobby. Light refreshments (tea/coffee and evening drinks reception) will also take place in the Flett Lobby.

The museum is located a c. 5 minute walk from the South Kensington underground station (on the Piccadilly/District/Circle lines). Directions to the museum from the underground station can be found here. Upon arrival at the Museum, locate the Exhibition Road side entrance (see link for map information), not the main entrance on Cromwell Road. Once you’ve entered the building from Exhibition Road, there will be signposts directing you to the conference.

Invited talks by Xavier Crosta, Anne de Vernal, Tom Dunkley-Jones, Heiko Pälike and Bridget Wade will take place 1-4pm. This will be followed by brief TMS society business with the presentation of awards and medals. A drinks reception will then take place in the Flett Lobby for all delegates, kindly sponsored by Petrostrat. During the drinks reception the first poster session will take place, with posters on display in the Flett Lobby. After the drinks reception, delegates will head towards Gloucester Road for the conference dinner, being held at Med Kitchen. The evening meal is kindly sponsored by Neftex. This is a ticketed event.
