Research Fellow in Oligocene Planktonic Foraminifera

Fixed Term: The position is funded for five years in the first instance.
The Department of Earth Sciences is seeking a planktonic foraminiferal taxonomist for Research Fellow position funded by NERC large grant NE/V018361/1 “Solving the Oligocene Icehouse Conundrum (TONIC)”. The overall goal of TONIC is to understand Oligocene climate and the carbon cycle, and to improve understanding of climate and ice sheet sensitivity in a warmer world. The aim of this research fellow project is to examine carbon cycle changes through the Oligocene, using multi-species planktonic foraminiferal geochemistry (boron isotopes, trace element/Ca and oxygen and carbon isotope signatures).

Assistant Professor in Palaeobiology (Research and Education)

Assistant Professor Position

The Department of Earth Sciences (DESTE) at the University of Geneva (UNIGE) (https://www.unige.ch/sciences/terre/en/earth-sciences-department/) is seeking to host and support female candidates who are aiming at submitting an application within the SNF PRIMA program for excellent women researchers who show a high potential for obtaining a professorship (deadline 1st November, 2022), or for a SNSF Starting Grant (deadline 1st February 2023). The successful candidate will conduct an independent line of research in Geneva to
strengthen fundamental research either in one of the existing disciplines of the department, e.g., Micropaleontology, Biostratigraphy, Paleoecology, or better to initiate a new field of investigation in connection with Earth-Life Interactions, biosignatures for life, and implications for modern climate change.

Micropalaeontologists and Nannopalaeontologists – PetroStrat
We have exciting opportunities to further expand our skilled and experienced team of 35 biostratigraphers. To complement our current skill base we are looking for candidates ideally experienced in wellsite and routine micropalaeontology and nannopalaeontology.
The roles will require working within a team on a wide variety of analytical studies, including single or multi-well and reservoir to regional scale projects, to be undertaken either in our UK offices, overseas and at wellsite. We offer varied and interesting career opportunities and are currently active in many areas including North, West & South Africa, the Middle East, North & South America, the North Sea, Norwegian Sea, Eastern Europe, the Caribbean, SE Asia and Australasia. Applicants should ideally be qualified and willing to conduct wellsite work, both onshore and offshore. This post will involve a balanced mix of office-based analytical work and wellsite work, with excellent opportunities for career progression within an expanding and dynamic organisation which has exciting plans for further expansion.
The successful candidates will have a minimum of an MSc in an appropriate biostratigraphic discipline. Previous industrial experience, including wellsite work is preferred, but not essential as appropriate training will be given.
