The Malham Tarn Field Studies Centre is on the Pennine Way adjacent to Malham Tarn and is surrounded by a karst landscape of Carboniferous limestone, with associated surface and ground water environments. It is located with in the Yorkshire Dales National Park and in a Site of Special Scientific Interest, National Nature Reserve, Ramsar designated wetland and a Special Area of Conservation.
