The theme of this years meeting is Interdisciplinary advances in foraminiferal and nannofossil research. We hope that this open theme will attract submissions from the whole breadth of our science. The meeting will consist of short oral presentations and extended poster sessions on both days. As always for the Foraminifera and Nannofossil Groups joint meetings, our priority will be to maximise opportunities for students to present and discuss their research. We also invite you to join us for a one-day field excursion on the 23 June to view Hutton’s ‘unconformity’ at Siccar Point and the Lower Carboniferous reefs of the Lower Limestone Group, which have well preserved microfauna.

Co-convenors
Prof. Kate Darling, Dr. Kath Evans, Dr. Magali Schweizer and Dr. Tom Russon

Meeting Scientific Committee
Prof. Kate Darling (Foram group), Dr. Phil Sexton (Foram group), Dr. Karl-Heinz Baumann (Nannofossil group) and Dr. Tom Dunkley-Jones (Nannofossil group)

Please use one registration form per person.

The deadline for abstract submission has now passed. Please note that no abstract will be considered for inclusion in the final programme unless it has been accompanied by a completed registration form with payment. Late registrees to the meeting wishing to submit an abstract should contact Dr. Kate Darling with message subject: “TMS FG & NG Abstract” to enquire as to whether this is possible.

Posters: should be prepared in English as A0 (118.9 cm x 84.2 cm) in portrait format.

Conference BBQ

This will be held in the South Hall Meeting Room and Garden. Participation at the BBQ will cost £25 (including drinks) per person. Menu will include a vegetarian option.

Field Excursion

The meeting will be followed by a field trip to the East Lothian coast on Saturday 23rd June. Participation will cost £15 per person. The bus will leave from the Pollock Halls at 09.00, returning around 18:45. Bring hammer, sample bags and camera!! We will have a lunch stop for a picnic (to bring with you in the morning). We will visit Hutton’s world-famous geological ‘unconformity’ at Siccar Point and the Catcraig section of the Dinantian Calciferous Sandstone Measures and reefs of the Lower Limestone Group, which have well preserved microfauna. If there is time we hope to visit the North Berwick sea bird centre which overlooks the Bass Rock, a volcanic plug of phonolitic trachyte rock of Carboniferous (Dinantian) age. This is the largest single rock gannetry in the world and together with the other Forth River estuary islands constitutes a mega sea bird colony extravaganza. These can be view from remote cameras from the sea bird centre. There is a charge for this but it is very worthwhile.
