SUMMARY:GGRiP (Geochemistry Group Research in Progress): 8-10th April 2025
DESCRIPTION:GGRiP (Geochemistry Group Research in Progress) will be held on the University of Birmingham campus between 8th – 10th April 2025. Registration is now open\, and more information can be found on our website: https://ggrip2025.co.uk/ \n\n\n\nThe Geochemistry Group promotes geochemistry as a discipline and enhances links between the many areas of geochemistry. There is a particular focus on early career geochemists (PhD candidates and postdocs)\, and they look to provide a showcase for new geochemical talent in Great Britain and Ireland. The Geochemistry Group is a Special Interest Group of both the Mineralogical Society of Great Britain and Ireland\, and The Geological Society of London.  \n\n\n\nGeochemistry in micropalaeontology will be a key part of the conference\, with a keynote from Dr. Tom Dunkley Jones\, a nannopalaeontologist based at the University of Birmingham who will be presenting work on coccolithophore organic biomarkers\, and the isotopes and Sr/Ca ratios of calcium carbonate coccolith-plates to reconstruct past ocean and climate change.  \n\n\n\nWe’re also holding an icebreaker with a difference\, as a Fringe-style event in the Lapworth Museum. This will include an Art & Photography competition\, as well as an Open Mic night\, in aid of raising money for the Midlands Art Centre (MAC) Green Futures campaign. We’re looking for singers\, poets\, spoken word artists\, storytellers\, and comedians to take the mic and perform in our Open Mic night. Anyone can take part! \n\n\n\nA strong representation from the micropalaeontological community would be great\, so if you’re working in geochemistry\, please do consider registering and submitting an abstract! Early bird registration and abstract submissions will close on Monday\, 10th March\, with late in-person registration remaining open till the 21st March. Remote delegates can register until Friday 4th April. \n\n\n\nAny questions\, please check the website (https://ggrip2025.co.uk/) or email the local organising committee at ggrip2025@gmail.com.
