SUMMARY:TMS-CFFR Foraminifera Spring Meeting 2025
DESCRIPTION:REGISTRATION NOW OPEN: \n\n\n\n\nREGISTER\n\n\n\n\n\nOn behalf of The Micropalaeontological Society and the Cushman Foundation of Foraminiferal Research\, we would like to invite you to attend the second joint TMS-CFFR Foraminifera Spring Meeting\, this time organized on June 10-13\, 2025 in Gothenburg (Sweden). \n\n\n\nGothenburg is the second largest city in Sweden and is easy to reach by airplane at Landvetter Airport\, but also by train from Stockholm (Arlanda Airport)\, Copenhagen (Kastrup Airport) and Oslo (Gardemoen Airport)\, and we look forward to welcoming many of you on site. To facilitate participation online the conference will be held in full hybrid mode. Visiting Gothenburg in June will allow you to experience long sunny days\, mild temperatures (15-20°C)\, and the lush greenery of the Gothenburg Botanical Garden and city parks. Gothenburg is also a gateway to one of Sweden’s most beautiful island groups: Gothenburg Archipelago\, which comes to life in June and can be explored by boat. June is just before the peak of the summer tourist season and will offer shorter queues to the most popular Gothenburg attractions such as Liseberg Amusement Park\, The Gothenburg Art Museum\, The Universeum Science Center and The Exhibition Center World of Volvo. \n\n\n\nThe title of the meeting will be “Foraminifera as a marine magnifying glass: tiny details\, big insights from fossils to molecules” to reflect the various aspects of foraminiferal research ranging from paleo-approaches in climate and ocean research to experimental\, Al-based and marine environmental studies\, ecology\, taxonomy\, biogeography\, phylogeny\, as well as fossil applications in industry\, forensics and archaeology. The conference will include a one-day field trip to the newly appointed UNESCO Global Geopark at Kinnekulle with its well-known Cambrian alum shales and Ordovician limestones (June 10)\, and two full days of scientific sessions filled with keynote\, oral and poster presentations at Wallenberg Centre (June 11 & 12).  \n\n\n\nWe look forward to welcoming you in Gothenburg! \n\n\n\nIrina Polovodova Asteman\, on behalf of the local organizing committee

DESCRIPTION:We are thrilled to welcome you to Bengaluru (India) for the 15th International Conference on Palaeoceanography (ICP15) . We are looking forward to hearing about your latest research on past ocean\, climate and Earth System processes over a range of timescales. Both proxy- and modelling-based approaches are welcome. The aim of the conference is to gain a better understanding of how our oceans and climate have evolved in the past\, what are the drivers of those changes and their relevance to future changes\, how those drivers of change have operated\, interacted and influenced the past climate and how novel approaches are being developed and applied to unravel process-based knowledge to contribute to the future climate predictions. We welcome world experts and newcomers in the field of Palaeoceanography. For the newcomers\, this is a unique conference that occurs every 3-4 years and voted by the members of the community to become a host. You will have an opportunity to showcase your science and select the next ICP host during the conference. DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the 12th International Cretaceous Symposium\, which will take place from 31 August to 5 September 2025 in Hannover\, Germany. This prestigious event\, jointly organized by Leibniz Universität Hannover (LUH) and the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR)\, will provide a unique platform for leading scientists and professionals to present and discuss the latest findings and developments in the field of Cretaceous research. \n\n\n\nThe symposium will be held in the historic Welfenschloss\, the main building of the LUH\, and offers space for up to 350 participants. DESCRIPTION:ISSS Meeting – First CircularDownload\n\n\n\nThe official 2025 meeting of the International Subcommission on Silurian Stratigraphy will take place in Spain\, as agreed by the delegates at the last annual meeting held in Sofia\, Bulgaria\, in September 2024. \n\n\n\nThis year marks the 27th anniversary of the Silurian Field Meeting that took place in Spain and Portugal in June 1998\, which also visited the outcrops in northern Seville. In 2025\, coinciding with the meeting\, the Golden Spike marking the replacement Global Stratotype Section and Point (GSSP) of the Telychian Stage of the Llandovery Series will be officially established there. \n\n\n\nSeville is a fitting location for a Silurian meeting due to its special significance in Spanish history\, its status as a very pleasant city full of colour and tourist attractions\, and\, of course\, its proximity to the most complete\, continuous and fossiliferous Silurian sections in Spain. These sections are located in the Ossa-Morena Zone of the Iberian Massif\, within the Natural Park and UNESCO Global Geopark Sierra Norte de Sevilla\, an area of great scenic\, geological\, and cultural value. \n\n\n\nThe Silurian rocks of Seville have attracted geological studies since the late 19th century. However\, it was not until the 1970s that the discoveries of the distinguished French geologist Michel Robardet initiated a series of investigations into their exceptional stratigraphy and fossil record\, making the region a model area for Silurian studies. \n\n\n\nSeville and its Silurian strata welcome you in September 2025! \n\n\n\nJuan Carlos Gutiérrez-Marco and Sara Romero \n\n\n\nOn behalf of the organisers \n\n\n\nMore information here!

Become a TMS Member here! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDear Colleagues\, \n\n\n\nWe are delighted to be hosting the 7th International Palaeontological Congress (IPC7) in South Africa in 2026. This is the second time that this meeting will be held in the global South and the first time in Africa. The meeting will be held during the height of our very pleasant summer season at the Baxter Theatre Complex and the University of Cape Town between the 30 November – 3 December. The venues have the capacity to host hundreds of delegates\, both in large rooms and smaller breakaway rooms. \n\n\n\nThe fossil heritage of South Africa is renown globally for its importance in understanding the history of life on Earth and extends from the very beginnings of life on Earth to the world-famous hominin relatives that have been recovered here. We will soon be inviting submissions for symposia topics\, and we expect the meeting to offer a wide range of symposia\, as well as space for general talks. We are also organising a series of fieldtrips to give delegates a feel for the rich fossiliferous rocks in South Africa that span significant periods of time.
