EGU General Assembly 2026 – Formainifera Session

We wish to draw your attention to a session we are convening at the upcoming European Geoscience Union (EGU) General Assembly 2026 in Vienna, Austria.

As a co-chair, I, along with my fellow conveners, would be delighted to fully consider and support your submitted abstract and research for our session, entitled:

“Harnessing foraminifera and other microeukaryotes to understand Earth’s ecosystem changes: perspectives from past, present and future”

This year, our goal is to assemble a diverse group of contributors by accommodating multidisciplinary research that utilizes microfossils and microeukaryotes as a guide to understand how the Earth system works, in the past, in the present, as well as in the future.

Our target participants are not limited to those working solely with fossilized records. We strongly encourage submissions from researchers who seek to link the present-day biosphere to the geological past and project these findings toward future environmental perspectives.

We therefore encourage you, or your colleagues, to partake in our session. We believe this platform will allow you to receive invaluable feedback and insights, not only from micropalaeontologists but also from a wide range of geoscience experts.

If you or your colleagues are interested in presenting research to our session, we invite you to review the full details and submission guidelines for our session:

Or simply, you can check in the attached file.

The conveners for this session sincerely look forward to receiving your abstract submissions and hopefully welcoming you to Vienna soon.

Sincerely,
BG 5.3 Session Conveners

The Micropalaeontological Society

Towards the advancement of the education of the public in the study of Micropalaeontology

The Micropalaeontological Society (TMS) exists “to advance the education of the public in the study of Micropalaeontology” and is operated “exclusively for scientific and educational purposes and not for profit”. It was initiated as The British Micropalaeontological Group (BMG) in 1970, following a proposal by Professor Leslie Moore of the University of Sheffield and several colleagues who wished to organise a group of palaeontologists with a mutual interest in the micropalaeontological study of British type sections and the provision of a forum for the communication of their results.
