A Natural Kaleidoscope: understanding the Earth system through microfossils

We are delighted to announce that the Annual Conference of The Micropalaeontological Society (TMS) will be held in Pisa, Italy, from 5 to 8 November 2025, hosted by the University of Pisa.

The conference will feature:

  • Specialist workshops (5th November);
  • Scientific sessions with oral and poster presentations (6th–7th November);
  • Social events, including the traditional Welcome Icebreaker (5th November), a Conference Pizza Dinner (6th November) and a Wine and Oil tasting experience (7th November);
  • A post-conference field trip to the Calci Museum of Natural Sciences (8th November).

The TMS Annual Conference will be held in Pisa, Italy, hosted by the University of Pisa. The pre-congress workshops and the ice breaker party will take place at the Earth Sciences Department (via Santa Maria 53, 56126 Pisa), while the scientific sessions and the Wine and Oil tasting experience will take place at the Polo Piagge (via Giacomo Matteotti 11, 56124 Pisa).

The Conference will be preceded by 3 workshops: MARDI, Allo’25 and the Nanno Workshop. You can apply to one of the 3 by selecting it on the registration form. The scientific sessions (6th–7th November) will include oral and poster presentations. Contributions from all the fields of micropaleontology can be submitted, highlighting the many aspects of sciences to which micropalaeontology can give its contribution, as this discipline is a Natural Kaleidoscope.

More information is available on this flyer, and you can find further details and register on the official conference website here.

The Micropalaeontological Society

Towards the advancement of the education of the public in the study of Micropalaeontology

The Micropalaeontological Society (TMS) exists “to advance the education of the public in the study of Micropalaeontology” and is operated “exclusively for scientific and educational purposes and not for profit”. It was initiated as The British Micropalaeontological Group (BMG) in 1970, following a proposal by Professor Leslie Moore of the University of Sheffield and several colleagues who wished to organise a group of palaeontologists with a mutual interest in the micropalaeontological study of British type sections and the provision of a forum for the communication of their results.
